The 3rd Uganda-Kenya Coast Tourism Conference

The 3rd Uganda-Kenya Coast Tourism Conference is scheduled to take place from November 9th to 21st, 2024, at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda. This event, organized by the Consulate of Uganda in Mombasa, aims to enhance tourism collaboration between Uganda and Kenya’s coastal regions.

The conference will feature various activities, including a main conference, exhibitions, B2B networking sessions, a golf tournament, and excursions to tourism sites in both Uganda and the Kenya Coast. Key topics on the agenda include investment opportunities in the tourism sector, sustainability, and strategies to overcome challenges in promoting regional tourism.

Additionally, the event seeks to strengthen synergies between tourism stakeholders, promote joint tourism packages, and increase tourist arrivals and investments in both destinations. A familiarization trip to the Kenya Coast is planned for late November to give participants firsthand experience of the region’s attractions.

This annual conference is a significant step toward boosting tourism cooperation and economic growth between Uganda and Kenya’s coastal areas, aims to strengthen tourism collaboration between the two nations.

The conference will focus on various critical areas, including investment opportunities in the tourism sector, sustainability practices, and addressing challenges in regional tourism promotion. Participants will include a diverse group of stakeholders, such as tour operators, hoteliers, government officials, and travel agents from both countries.

Key activities planned for the event include:

  • Main Conference: Discussions on enhancing tourism ties and developing joint strategies to boost tourist arrivals and investments.
  • Exhibitions and Networking Sessions: Opportunities for business-to-business (B2B) interactions, showcasing tourism products, and creating partnerships.
  • Excursions: Site visits to prominent tourism destinations in Uganda and the Kenya Coast, allowing participants to experience firsthand what each region has to offer.
  • Golf Tournament: An additional platform for informal networking among participants.

The conference also aims to increase traffic on the Entebbe-Mombasa route, jointly operated by Uganda Airlines, and to develop strategies for promoting complementary tourism experiences between Uganda and Kenya.
